sudo npm install npm -g

// Undo the previous config change
npm config delete ca

// For Ubuntu/Debian-sid/Mint, node package is renamed to nodejs which 
// npm cannot find. Fix this:
sudo ln -s /usr/bin/nodejs /usr/bin/node
